Club Wrestling and IGW
Indiana Girls Wrestling extends a special thanks to those coaches involved in female wrestling. We want to see each girl get the maximum training possible, and we know that this happens primarily and most frequently at the local level, whether in schools or during local club activities. We praise you, coach, and urge you to continue encouraging those females interested in wrestling.
Female wrestling continues to grow throughout Indiana, but individual participation is still widely and sparsely distributed throughout the state. Because of this, it is anticipated that most of the day-to-day instruction received by Indiana girls will be conducted at the local level. For those new to club wrestling or for those looking for a different club experience, IGW has identified several clubs throughout the state that feature heavy female participation and that have female-friendly practices and coaching staff. IGW also encourages girls to try the all-girls RTC programs throughout the state, in which girls can train exclusively with other girls.
IGW also periodically holds general IGNITES practices for those girls who are or who want to compete on its IGNITES teams. These practices are opportunities to train with our national team coaches and to wrestle with some of the best female competitors in the state. IGNITES practices generally are open to any girl with a current USAW membership and are provided without charge by support from IGW patrons.
